Surface plasmon resonance optical sensor for COVID-19 detection

The transmission of SARS-CoV-2, the novel severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus have caused disease (Covid-19) worldwide pandemic. Overcoming this pandemic requires identifying patients to avoid further spread disease. Real-time, sensitive, and cost-efficient methods for detecting COVID-19 are crucial. Optical sensors provide one such means achieve this, especially using surface plasmon resonance due its advantages as high sensitivity excellent detection limits. In paper, we propose a sensor which is based on simple Kretschmann configuration with gold layers thiol-tethered DNA ligand layer. Angle interrogation was used obtain structure Matlab numerical analysis. performance investigated two types prisms, SF10 SF11, while varying layer thickness between 45 - 60 nm. This information then determine combination prism ideal DNA. Thiol-tethered showed highest 137 degree/RIU when 50 nm thiol tethered

Thanks to resonant excitation of surface plasmons, SPR sensors including ferromagnetic thin films allow the enhancement of the magneto-optical response. MO-SPR structures with Au/Co/Au sandwiches are theoretically analyzed in transverse configuration. The influence of sandwich film thicknesses and layer order is discussed.
